#classic
The shred wizard Ryoji Shinomoto has just delivered a striking reinterpretation of Franz Liszt’s romantic piano classic Liebestraum (literally “Dream of Love / 愛の夢”) as an emotional guitar cover — part classical reimagined, part metal-infused expressionism.
Shinomoto isn’t some random session player — he’s a Hokkaido-born guitarist and vocalist best known as the founding force behind RYUJIN (formerly GYZE), one of Japan’s most forward-thinking metal projects that blends melodic death, power, symphonic, and folk metal.
His guitar work here reframes Liszt’s Liebestraum with expressive bends, shimmering sustain and a touch of that samurai-spirit drive that metalheads secretly love — basically the sort of crossover a classically nerdy virtuoso craves.
