#classic cover
guitarist and composer Ryoji Shinomoto has released a deeply expressive new single—his metal-classical interpretation of “Liebestraum No. 3” by Franz Liszt. Rather than overpowering the original, Shinomoto treats it with reverence: lyrical phrasing, controlled dynamics, and a guitar tone that sings where a piano once whispered.
The result is less a cover and more a translation—romantic-era emotion rendered through modern metal technique, where sustain, vibrato, and phrasing carry the narrative weight. Liebestraum No. 3 lives on touch and timing. Shinomoto’s strength here is restraint: he lets silence breathe, shapes melodies like vocal lines, and uses gain as color—not force. It’s classical sensitivity filtered through a metal musician’s discipline.
