Coven Japan Announce New Album Promised Land for July 2026
Tokyo heavy metal act Coven Japan will release their second full-length album, Promised Land, on July 24, 2026, through No Remorse Records.
Formed in Tokyo in 2016 by guitarist Akihiro Ito and vocalist Taka, Coven Japan emerged from a DIY background, initially recording, mixing, and mastering their own material. Drawing inspiration from classic acts such as Angel Witch, Satan, Mercyful Fate, traditional Japanese music, and Japanese animation themes, the band developed a unique sound that combines classic heavy metal with bilingual lyrics in English and Japanese.
The group first gained international attention with its 2017 debut EP, The Advent, before expanding into a full live band. After several years of refining its sound and building a loyal underground following, Coven Japan released its debut full-length album, Earthlings, in 2023 through No Remorse Records, earning praise from fans of traditional and NWOBHM-inspired heavy metal.
Now, the band returns with Promised Land, a new collection of songs that further explores themes of destiny, life, honor, and mortality through powerful riffs, soaring melodies, and a distinctly Japanese perspective on heavy metal.
The album also features a special guest appearance on the track “Samurai Rising,” with guest vocals by Tomas “Witchfinder” Ericson of Swedish heavy metal band Helvetets Port.
