The band’s Kyoto roots and established punk / garage / riot grrrl DNA are all over this track, but what makes it extra lethal is the lyrical concept: turning the tired male “you’re not in my strike zone” cliché into a full-volume counterattack of I never asked. It’s Otoboke at their most socially precise—funny, feral, and brutally quotable. Better yet, this is not a standalone spit-take: the single is the lead blast from the upcoming album Is The New Album Out Yet?, scheduled for April 15, making this song feel like the opening slap in a bigger satirical canon.
