J-rock meets superhero astronomy as 夢限大みゅーたいぷ (Mugendai Mewtype) release their cover of オリオンをなぞる (Orion wo Nazoru — “Trace Orion”), out September 23. Originally performed by UNISON SQUARE GARDEN, the song soundtracked the opening of 2011’s anime TIGER & BUNNY—giving this constellation some serious opening-credits pedigree.
Here’s the delicious liner-note rabbit hole: original songwriter and UNISON bassist Tomoya Tabuchi also penned Yumemita’s own anime opener, これはぼくたちの生存のあらすじ (Kore wa Bokutachi no Seizon no Arasuji — “This Is the Synopsis of Our Survival”). Its CD single arrives September 30. That makes this cover a neat orbit around a shared songwriting star—anime-rock genealogy with the telescope properly focused.
