Trance-idol quintet Ma’Scar’Piece starts Halloween’s soundcheck early with Vampire Kiss, released October 2 under the joint artist credit with 電音部 (Denonbu). Member Rio Omori identifies it as the group’s first Halloween song—October barely has its boots on, and the fangs are already out.
The nerdy detail lies in that billing: Ma’Scar’Piece already represents Denonbu’s Shimokitazawa area, with its performers also voicing characters from the project’s fictional Kitazawa Onbako High School. This is an existing creative universe baring its teeth. Shinpei Nasuno handles lyrics and arrangement, while Keitaro Yamamoto supplies the composition. Even the group’s name hides a conceptual scar: “Scar” and “Piece” feed into “Masterpiece.” A little damage, a little ambition, and now a suspiciously affectionate vampire.
