Indie-rock and new-wave trio LET ME KNOW pours a fresh measure of hip-hop into 偽愛とハイボール (Ai to Haibōru — “Fake Love and Highballs”), with Korean-American rapper pH-1 adding a new verse to the October 2 release. The band’s self-described “Nostalgic Modern” recipe—new-wave beats, synthesizers and UK-indie guitar—gets another voice at the bar.
The title contains its own emotional sleight of hand: 偽愛 means “fake love,” yet is read ai, just like “love.” Even the kanji is concealing something. Originally released in April 2024, the song also served as the theme for the TV comedy スナック女子にハイボールを (Sunakku Joshi ni Haibōru o — “Highballs for the Women at the Snack Bar”). Its uneasy mixture of attraction, escapism and knowingly dubious decisions makes that pairing particularly neat. This edition adds pH-1’s perspective to an already complicated drinks order.
