Visual Kei metalcore quintet DAMNED reject life as background scenery on めくれ (Mekure, “Peel It Back!”), their September 26 two-track single. Hitone’s lyrics confront alienation and accumulated pain, urging escape from an existence reduced to an NPC cameo. Suica composed the title track, while fellow guitarist Kou. wrote SET ME ON FIRE; Katsuya of SLOTHREAT/Misanthropist mixed and mastered both. Two guitarists, two compositions, one existential argument with the mute button.
