Osaka rock ’n’ roll trio 25 U SING declares punctuation-assisted warfare on melancholy with SMASH!! GLOOM!!!!!, a five-track EP released October 2. Seven exclamation marks across two words: even the typography has stepped on a distortion pedal.
Clocking in at approximately 15 minutes, the release keeps its ambitions compact, with titles including SUMMER SKY? and LET’S GO!! FIVE TWO GO!!. The question mark suggests that even summer gets cross-examined when everything else is shouting. Beyond the sleeve’s exuberance, there is proper live-house legwork: the accompanying seven-date tour starts at Osaka’s Live House Kiruna on release day, visits Okayama, Kobe, Kyoto, Takamatsu and Tokushima, then returns to Kiruna on December 4. Three musicians, five tracks, seven shows—gloom has been served its touring itinerary.
